Report from Gerhard Fruehbauer, Hovercraft of Austria: The Bavarian River Isar, which crosses the City of Munich, is now being redirected into its original bed. This program is called “revitalization of the Isar”. In order to contain the annual threat of high water levels, flow checks will have to be installed. These flow checks cannot be traversed by boats but a hovercraft would solve this predicament. With our Hoverjet GT we achieved a speed of 70 km/hour (44 mph) as measured by the Munich Police with a Laser gun. Our Hoverjet GT operated flawlessly down 45 degree dams as can be seen in the pictures. Moreover waves of nearly three feet were navigated going upstream with an experienced pilot.
